Michael Johnson visits Jamaica
The documentary, which aired on Channel 4 in the UK last week, features Johnson confronting the horrific history of slavery – from mass murders on slave ships to nightmarish breeding programs of plantation owners. Johnson, who became the first man to win gold in both the 200- and 400-meter sprints in a single Olympics, says that descendants of West African slaves have a ‘superior athletic gene’, which is why he believes they have dominated athletics finals over the last few years. In this remarkable authored film he discovers some disturbing truths about the lives of his enslaved ancestors.
